Privacy, Safety & Wellbeing
At The Game Within™, the safety, wellbeing and privacy of our young people matters.
Our goal is to create a respectful and supportive environment where teens and young adults can learn practical tools, better understand themselves and build skills for navigating the challenges of growing up. A Safe and Respectful Space Everyone participating in The Game Within™ has the right to feel safe, respected and included. We expect participants to treat each other with kindness and respect. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, threatening behaviour or deliberately harmful communication will not be accepted. Participants are never required to share personal experiences or information they are uncomfortable discussing. Privacy & Confidentiality We respect the privacy of our participants and will treat personal information and conversations with care. Participants are also expected to respect each other's privacy. Personal stories or information shared by another participant should not be photographed, recorded, screenshotted, posted or shared outside the programme without permission. There are, however, important limits to confidentiality when someone's safety is involved. If we become seriously concerned that a young person may be at risk of harm, may harm themselves or another person, or we become aware of a significant child-safety concern, we may need to seek additional help or share relevant information with a parent/guardian, appropriate professional or relevant authority. Where it is safe and appropriate, we will endeavour to discuss this with the young person first. The Game Within™ is Not Therapy The Game Within™ is an educational and personal-development programme. Our programmes, conversations, resources and tools are designed to build self-awareness, resilience, communication skills and practical strategies for navigating everyday life. The Game Within™ does not provide psychological or psychiatric assessment, diagnosis or treatment and is not a substitute for counselling, therapy, medical care or other professional mental health services. Where specialist support may be needed, we encourage participants and families to seek advice from an appropriately qualified health professional. The Game Within™ is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 111. Participants Under 18 For The Game Within™ programmes, we require parent or legal guardian consent for participants under 18. We also believe the young person should understand what they are participating in and choose to participate themselves. We therefore ask both the parent/guardian and the young person to complete the appropriate consent process before commencing the programme. Parents, Privacy & Trust Building trust with young people is an important part of creating a safe learning environment. We will not routinely report everything a young person says or discusses during the programme back to their parent or guardian. However, where we have a significant concern about a young person's safety or wellbeing, we may need to involve their parent/guardian or another appropriate person or service. Our priority will always be to respond in a way that supports the safety and wellbeing of the young person. Personal Information We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to administer and safely deliver The Game Within™. This may include contact details, age/date of birth, parent or guardian information, emergency contact information and relevant information needed to support safe participation. Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable New Zealand privacy requirements. We do not sell participants' personal information. Where third-party technology or platforms are used to deliver our services, information may also be processed in accordance with those providers' privacy policies. Participants and parents/guardians may contact us to ask about personal information we hold about them or request that incorrect information be corrected. Photos, Videos & Testimonials Enrolling in The Game Within™ does not automatically give us permission to use a participant's photograph, video, name, testimonial or personal story for marketing or promotional purposes. Separate permission will be sought before identifiable participant content is used publicly. Our Commitment We want The Game Within™ to be a place where young people can learn, ask questions, develop greater confidence in themselves and gain practical tools they can take into everyday life. We ask everyone involved participants, parents, families and facilitators to help us protect that environment. Be curious. Be respectful. Protect each other's privacy. Ask for help when you need it. And remember you don't have to have everything figured out. Questions or Concerns? If you have a question about privacy, safety, wellbeing or participation in The Game Within™, please contact us.

Not sure what you need?
That's okay. You don't need to choose a programme, diagnose the problem or know exactly who should come first. Tell us a little about what's happening. Our short Initial Check-In helps us understand what's going on and where the most useful starting point might be.
